National Geographic: Life Found Under Antarctic Ice

National Geographic reports that scientists have found microbes in a lake trapped underneath the Antarctic ice. What does this have to do with astronomy? You may recall my post about Jupiter (which is easily visible in the night sky this month) and its icy moon Europa. Europa probably has an ocean of liquid water underneath its icy surface, so this finding bolsters theories about how life might exist on Europa.
