Winter Sun

We Chicagoans are suffering through an epic winter. As bad as it is right now, however, the seasons inevitably change. One sign of this is that the daylight hours are increasing. In fact, today was the first day this winter that the Sun rose before 7:00 am Central time. Unfortunately, you couldn’t see it through the snow storm. Furthermore, each day we gain two or three more minutes of daylight.

The Sun made news earlier this week as NASA reported that it emitted a mid-level solar flare. Click through to see a photo from the Solar Dynamics Observatory.
