Venus and Jupiter Collide! (Not Really)

June 30-July 1

Tonight and tomorrow night, Venus and Jupiter will be right next to each other in the western sky at nightfall. In fact, they will appear closer together than the diameter of the Moon (which, incidentally, is nearly full).

They will not be this close together in the sky again until August 2016. Skies are clearing over Chicago, so step outside as the Sun sets and look west.
